"Caring for Our Kids" Nursery Rhyme Composition Competition

Organiser and Co-organiser

  • The Competition is organised by the Commission on Children ("the Commission") and co-organised by the Labour and Welfare Bureau.

Objectives of the Competition

  • To enhance communication and interaction among parents and children through writing nursery rhymes and deliver the message of "Caring for Our Kids" to the community.

Theme of the Competition

  • Parents and children compose nursery rhymes together that highlight "Caring for Our Kids" as the theme.

Target Group and Eligibility

  • The Competition is targeted at kindergarten and primary school students studying in Hong Kong and their parents. Parents and children should enter the Competition as a team and each team should submit one entry only. There is no limit to the number of participants of each team.

Online Instruction

  • The online instructions, which cover an introduction on the basic knowledge required for composing melodies and writing lyrics, are available for reference by the participants.

Length of song Not more than three minutes
Lyrics Cantonese, Putonghua or English
Accompaniment Can be unaccompanied (i.e. just melody and lyrics) or accompanied (i.e. including melody, lyrics and musical instrument accompaniment)
Format of file mp3, m4a or wav
  • A piece of work which does not meet the above specifications will not be accepted as an entry of the competition.
