Engagement Session on "Challenges Faced by Children after Resuming of Normal School Life in Post-COVID Era"

The Commission on Children (CoC) held a stakeholder engagement session on 5 May 2023 for collecting views of children and relevant stakeholders on the challenges of resuming normal school life after COVID-19 pandemic.
The engagement session was moderated by members of CoC. A total of some 60 primary and secondary students as well as some 60 parents, principals, teachers, social workers and healthcare professionals attended six parallel breakout sessions. The participants expressed their views on the challenges of various aspects, including academics, social activities, and physical and mental health, being faced by children on the resumption of normalcy and resuming normal school life as well as corresponding support.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare and Vice-chairperson of the CoC, Mr Chris Sun, and the Secretary for Education and ex-officio member of the CoC, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, joined the session to listen to children’s views through interactive games.
The engagement session is the first activity under the theme "Walk with Kids" of the CoC. Through a series of publicity initiatives and engagement sessions on different themes throughout the year, the “Walk with Kids” thematic campaign aims to raise public awareness of child protection and enhance their understanding on the core values of promoting the well-being of children and the work of CoC in different dimensions.
