Engagement Activity on "Let's T.A.L.K. LOL Party"
16-17 November 2024
On 16 and 17 November 2024, the Commission on Children (CoC), the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) and the Social Welfare Department (SWD) jointly held a stakeholder engagement activity at the large-scale carnival, "Let's T.A.L.K. LOL Party", through setting up the "Let's T.A.L.K. and Walk with Kids" publicity booth with an aim to enhancing public awareness on the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance and child protection.
HKPF organised the "Let's T.A.L.K. LOL Party" carnival at the West Kowloon Cultural District over two consecutive days to promote child protection and anti-drug messages to the public. The Commissioner of Police cum ex-officio member of CoC, Mr Siu Chak-yee; the Assistant Director (Family & Child Welfare) of SWD, Ms Wendy Chau; and the Convenor of the Working Group on Child Protection of CoC, Ms Kathy Chung, along with various guests, officiated the opening ceremony.
As part of "Walk with Kids" thematic campaign of CoC, non-official members of CoC engaged and interacted with the members of the public through the educational display panels and two child protection-themed games at the "Let's T.A.L.K. and Walk with Kids" publicity booth, for the purpose of promoting the importance of early identification, intervention and reporting of child abuse cases in order to protect children from further harm, enhancing public awareness of the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance and disseminating the message of child protection.
