Online Stakeholder Engagement Session on
"Proposal on the Mandatory Reporting Requirement for Suspected Child Abuse Cases"

The Commission on Children (the Commission) organised an online stakeholder engagement session on 30 September 2022 on the topic of "Proposal on the Mandatory Reporting Requirement for Suspected Child Abuse Cases".

A total of about 60 participants from the education, healthcare and social welfare sectors exchanged and shared their views on various areas of concern, for example, the reporting thresholds, reporting channels, protection measures for mandated reporters, as well as the mode and content of training, various supportive and administrative measures etc. On the views collected at the stakeholder engagement session on "Child Abuse" conducted in April 2021 by the Commission, participants also expressed their views on the Government's follow-up actions.

The engagement session was moderated by members of the Commission with attendance of representatives from the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Social Welfare Department.

Stakeholders' Views Gathered

On 14 June 2023, the Government has introduced the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Bill to the Legislative Council.
