Engagement Session on "Review and Outlook" cum "Let’s T.A.L.K. and Walk with Kids" Child Protection Campaign Award Presentation Ceremony 2023

The Commission on Children (CoC) held a stakeholder engagement event on 18 November 2023. Some 100 participants attended the event, including stakeholders of the social welfare, education and healthcare sectors, representatives of the organisations participated in the previous engagement events of CoC and the organisations which had completed projects funded under the Funding Scheme for Children’s Well-being and Development.
The engagement event was held on the theme of “Review and Outlook” in the format of a tea reception. Members of CoC and stakeholders exchanged views on the work of promoting child protection, advancement of the well-being and development of children as well as future work priorities. The Convenors of the four Working Groups under CoC, viz. Ms Kathy Chung, Dr Sanly Kam, Ms Shalini Mahtani and Mr Gary Wong, shared with the participants the achievements of the Commission in child-related policies and initiatives, public engagement and promotional efforts. There were also exhibition boards highlighting CoC’s work in the past five years since its establishment in 2018, along with photographs and video clips of previous activities.
The Chief Secretary for Administration (CS) and Chairperson of CoC, Mr Chan Kwok-ki hosted the engagement event. He expressed his gratitude to various sectors of society for their support for the work of CoC. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare and Vice-chairperson of CoC, Mr Chris Sun, Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee, the Director of Social Welfare, Miss Charmaine Lee and the Consultant Community Medicine (Family and Student Health) of the Department of Health, Dr Thomas Chung also attended the event to exchange views with participants.
After the tea reception, CS officiated at the “Let’s T.A.L.K. and Walk with Kids” Child Protection Campaign Award Presentation Ceremony 2023. The “Walk with Kids” thematic campaign of the CoC, the “Let’s T.A.L.K. - Child Protection Campaign” of the Police and the “Strengthening Families and Combating Violence” publicity campaign of the Social Welfare Department joined forces to show the Government’s joint commitment to stepping up public education on child protection at the family, institutional and community levels. Over 200 participants attended the ceremony, including the officiating guests, award recipients and representatives of supporting organisations and sponsors.
